“ I fully support this project. Trauma doesnt have to be for life.“
”The Trauma Picture Book is a valuable resource for those people who are working to alleviate the suffering of children caught in the nightmares of war, in Syria and other war-torn countries. I am glad to have had even a small part in making this book available to those in need”.

“My heart’s desire is that this little picture book, created by a team who loves children, carries hope to those suffering hardship. May unknown blessings be discovered by the courageous caregivers who use these practical strategies to strengthen family resiliency and begin to heal the wounds of traumatic events”.
Well Wishes for a Brighter Tomorrow.

“We must not be indifferent to the fate of children, no matter that they live in different parts of the world. Maybe we cannot hear their crying and maybe they do not even have tears anymore. However, there are people from our country who are ready to help them. The conflict in Syria, their homeland, has already lasted longer than the Second World War and there are millions of traumatized children. It is very important to give a helping hand, and not only to them, but to their parents and relatives as well. That is why compassionate people have prepared a handbook with information about the possibilities of eliminating trauma in the same way as we do here so that non-professionals can also cope with the tragedies the children have experienced. It is the smallest thing we can do for them and I would like to support it. My thanks from the heart to those who did not lose their sense of humanity in this chaotic time.”

“In my therapeutic and life experience, helplessness is the worst thing and there is a lot of it in the lives of people fleeing the war and dictatorship. Also, there is a lot of helplessness in the many years of living in refugee camps. The people there experienced terrible things. For years, they have been helplessly watching politicians who have gained power, territory and money at their expense, at the same time undergoing the suffering that people inflict on one another. Moreover, there is a lot of helplessness on the part of those who want to help refugees.
Therefore, I appreciate the fact that Češi pro Sýrii, z.s., are publishing a trauma handbook in which they have carefully and sensitively selected the most important information from two excellent professional books dealing with the prevention and treatment of trauma in children by the authors Peter. A. Levine and Maggie Kline.
It is a great help for parents and others who support children in refugee camps as it is about preventing long-term trauma in children. The entire text of this small publication is accessible and comprehensible. Practically it shows how this help can work. In traumatic events, “the overwhelming of the body” is enormous. The slow and regulated techniques described in the trauma handbook release this tension, which, if otherwise left in the body, cause various post-traumatic symptoms. In principle, it is about repeatedly allowing children to express and experience their feelings in a safe and empathetic relationship.
The methods are described in an accurate and concise manner. They also offer help in finding new resources and strength in a child. They show how it is possible to process sadness, sorrow and mourning. I very much appreciate the work of Kateřina Honzíková and the activities of Češi pro Sýrii, z.s.. Their work is a valuable contribution in the time of desperate helplessness when no one knows when and how the conflict in Syria will end and how many other people will be traumatized.

“Children are what matters most in life. All parents know how much they are willing to sacrifice for the happiness of their children. And perhaps only mothers and fathers can fully understand the pain of helplessness. The war in Syria caused the suffering of millions of innocent children and our human task is to help them and to find ways to alleviate their suffering. In the environment of refugee camps even a small book and an adapted picture version can be of significant help to Syrian parents and their children. “
